1879 - 1885 The first keeper of this lighthouse station was Nathaniel Otterson. 1885 -1904 Brackett Lewis was the next keeper. His daughter married in the lantern room. 1904-1912 William Brooks was the next keeper. Rumor has it that he was forced to resign after it was found out he was charging fishermen and sightseers to get onto the island. 1912-1919 James Burke 1919-1921 William Richardson 1921-1928 Fairfield Moore 1928-1930 Edmond Howe 1930 Truman J. Lathrop 1930-1943 Eugene Coleman The following served as keepers in the time frames shown. His term ended when the Coast Guard opted to automate the lighthouse. Mr. Ahlgrea moved out in July of 1987. |
